Findings and practical limits
Monitoring has technical and operational limits. Responsibilities, notification procedures and data access must be defined for the assignment. Availability and suitability are confirmed during review.
Identify the monitoring purpose and instructions
Provide the relevant case documents, the proposed participant, the intended monitoring period and any conditions supplied by counsel or the responsible authority. The assignment should clarify what information is needed, who is authorized to receive it and whether the proposed arrangement fits the case. Monitoring availability must be confirmed before implementation.
Define alerts, reporting and limitations
Location information and alerts need to be considered in context; a data point is not automatically proof of a violation. Equipment, connectivity and operating conditions can affect the information received. The agreed scope should identify reporting responsibilities and escalation arrangements. This service should not be assumed to provide continuous emergency response or replace an authority’s own supervision.
