Assess recovery before committing resources
A basic asset investigation helps attorneys, creditors and businesses assess whether further recovery efforts are worthwhile. We develop identifiable property and business leads tied to the subject, then explain what the available records establish.
Assignment scope
- Identity and address corroboration
- Public property and business ownership records
- Relevant civil filings and other accessible financial leads
Findings and practical limits
The report identifies sources, ownership indicators and unresolved matches. An asset lead does not establish that property is collectible or subject to seizure; counsel can assess recovery options.
What makes an asset lead useful?
A name alone can produce unrelated property or business records. Start with the subject’s full legal name, prior addresses, known entities and the question behind the recovery effort. Identifiers help distinguish the subject from people with similar names and focus research on records relevant to your decision.
Reading the results
An ownership reference is a lead to evaluate, rather than proof of available equity. A useful review considers the record date, named owner, related entity and unresolved identity issues. The report can help counsel decide whether deeper asset research is warranted; it does not determine whether an asset can be collected.
